Vote by Mail
In New Jersey, any voter can now Vote by Mail for any election. You do not need a reason to Vote by Mail. Don't feel like going to the polls? Simply vote by mail. Now there is "no excuse" not to vote!
Vote by Mail has replaced Absentee Voting in the State of New Jersey. It allows a voter to vote without going to the polls on election day. Now the voter also has the option of autmatically recieving ballots for future elections.
A voter may apply for Vote by Mail by completing an application (see below) and mailing the application to their County Clerk by mail up to 7 days prior to the election. A voter may also apply in person to the County Clerk until 3:00 p.m., the day before the election. The County Clerk cannot accept faxed copies of an Vote by Mail Application since an original signature is required.
Party Declaration
A registered voter desiring to affiliate with a party or change their party affiliation must file a Political Party Affiliation Declaration Form 50 days before an election. You can print and complete the Political Party Affiliation Declaration Form (see links below) and mail or deliver to the Commissioner of Registration in your county or you can also file it with your municipal clerk. These cards are also available at your local Commissioner of Registration Office. The Commissioner of Registration cannot accept faxed copies or an electronic transmission of Party Affiliation Declaration Forms, since an original signature is required.
